Karibuni develops practical frameworks, tools and learning programmes for companies, social enterprises, SMEs, institutions and business networks. Rooted in fashion and global value chains, this work extends across sectors wherever organisations seek to combine economic resilience with social and environmental purpose.
From purpose to practice
Social enterprise connects entrepreneurial activity with an explicit social or environmental mission. Its credibility depends on how that mission shapes governance, everyday operations, the use of resources and accountability to stakeholders.
We support this work through:
- Business models and governance — aligning mission, economic viability, decision-making and stakeholder participation.
- Human rights and responsible value chains — developing due diligence processes to identify impacts, prevent and mitigate harm, monitor progress and support remedy.
- Impact measurement and reporting — building theories of change, indicators and reporting tools that support transparent communication and continuous improvement.
- Networks and SME development — creating shared methodologies, collaborative programmes and peer learning across enterprises, suppliers and institutions.
- Education and organisational capacity — equipping boards, managers and operational teams with practical knowledge and tools they can apply independently.
Experience that informs the work
This area draws on more than twenty years of professional experience brought to Karibuni by its founder, Simone Cipriani, including the creation and leadership of the United Nations’ Ethical Fashion Initiative. That experience connects social enterprise development, decent work, market access and responsible sourcing across Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.
Our approach brings mission, governance, operations, finance and impact into a single framework. Each engagement starts with the organisation’s circumstances and develops clear responsibilities, usable tools and the internal capabilities needed to sustain progress.
